Some Background Information On Brook House

The land where Brook House is built- the new detention centre at Gatwick is owned by the Airport Property Partnership. This is a joint venture between BAA(British Airports Authority) Limited(who own the airport) and Morley Fund Management (an asset management company, owned by insurance group Aviva).

The arm of BAA (who own Gatwick airport) which deals with commercial property is BAA LyntonIt is BAA Lynton who obtained the planning permission for the building of the detention centre, on behalf of the Airport Property Partnership, developing the site for the Home Office, as they did with Tinsley House.

The Home Office suggest press queries relating to the Airport Property Partnership and BAA Lynton should go to Dido Laurimore at Financial Dynamics, a 'business and financial communications' consultancy firm.

The building company that first seemed to be have been contracted to build the prison is Inverness Construction Company Limited, Company No: 05464942. But Companies House reports this company as 'dissolved' on 13.03.07, yet a new director was appointed on 13.04.07. Confusing.

But now it seems that Mann Construction Ltdis building it, on behalf of Interserve, the company which manages the building projects for BAA. (1)

Mann Construction Ltd have lots of other building projects mainly around the South-East (including a leisure centre in Crawley).

The company providing the security for the building site is called Bowles Security Services. They also work abroad, claiming to "assist in the stabilization process of those countries who are currently facing tremendous internal challenges." They also boast, "We are pursuing an aggressive acquisition strategy in order to strengthen BCS in its current markets and also to open new markets for our services. Mr. Bowles is continuing to seek acquisitions and new business overseas to establish our market presence internationally." And they are 'lending a helpful hand' to a school in Nepal. How nice of them.

Most of these companies are based, or have UK offices, in London, except for Mann Construction Ltd which is in nearby Enfield, Interserve which is based in Reading, and BSS who are based in Aldershot. But all the in the South-East.
