Groups and Initiatives endorsing the Camp

  • Campaign to Close Campsfield
  • Bath Activist Network

An umbrella group of Bath-based activists working together on all manner of progressive issues. Amongst them is the need for freedom of both movement and the freedom to stay. Whilst capital and products flow freely from border to border, it is the poor and persecuted who often fall foul of these invisible lines, exploited and disposed of as products themselves rather than people. It is time for true equality and freedom for all: no one is illegal!"

  • Barbed Wire Britain

"Barbed Wire Britain Network to End Refugee and Migrant Detention (BWB) calls for a complete end to immigration detention. A new centre at Gatwick will be a big step from the current 2,600-odd detention placers to the government's announced target of 4,000. Protests camps are an excellent way of building a campaign, so BWB is glad to back the Gatwick No Border Camp."

  • Migrant English Project

"Migrant English Project is an independent grassroots Brighton-based project that supports all migrants. We support freedom of movement and we support migrants regardless of why they come here-whether they come here to seek asylum, to work or to improve their lives and those of their families. We run English lessons in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, we cook and eat lunch together and we offer advice and information on asylum and welfare issues. We support the Gatwick No Border Camp because we think that building a new detention centre in Gatwick will have a devastating effect on migrants who are trying to build their lives here in the UK. People are locked up in detention centres sometimes for long periods of time, merely because they crossed the border in search of a better life."

  • Queers Against Borders
  • West Midlands Antifa

"West Midlands Antifa fully support No Borders in their campaign against the British state's brutal treatment of people seeking refuge. The construction of this modern day concentration camp clearly demonstrates that the present system is based on rascism and the control of the few over the many. We believe that there are only two kinds of people in the world - workers and the rest. Nation states only serve the interests of capital in dividing us along false lines."

  • Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism!

"Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! (FRFI) is pleased to endorse the action of No Borders in organising this protest camp against the British Labour government’s latest racist prison. FRFI is the newspaper of the Revolutionary Communist Group. Our supporters are currently active against immigration controls and in support of asylum seekers in Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and London. We have campaigned since the 1970s on the basis that under capitalism all immigration controls will necessarily be racist and therefore must be opposed in their entirety. We salute the detainees at Harmondsworth, Campsfield and elsewhere who are making their own protests against the barbaric detention and deportation regime.'
